World Food Safety Day (June 7)
World Food Safety Day serves as a reminder to ensure that no foreign objects or undesirable substances contaminate food products. To minimize the risk of foreign objects in food, control should be implemented at every stage of production, and the technical condition of machines, hand tools, and other equipment must be monitored.
Metal detectors, optical separators, magnetic devices, and X-ray equipment can be used on production lines to detect foreign elements. Metal or X-ray detectors will be effective only when the elements they search for can be detected. To make the system work effectively, tools and equipment should be made from materials that are detectable by metal detectors or X-ray systems. Stainless steel or food-grade plastics containing detectable components are excellent choices for ensuring the highest hygiene standards in production and cleaning processes. Detectable accessories, such as quick connector shields or lance protectors, can also be used in cleaning systems.
Food Protection and Safety
Food safety focuses on preventing contamination from foreign objects or harmful substances. In addition to food safety, food protection is equally important, focusing on safeguarding food resources from deliberate contamination by individuals intending to harm the company or consumers. Malicious actions can damage the reputation of a brand and, in extreme cases, result in harm or even loss of life. The easiest way to contaminate a product is by introducing harmful substances that are already present in the plant.
Cleaning agents and disinfectants, whether acidic or alkaline, should be stored securely to prevent any risk to the food or workers. In accordance with food safety standards, such as IFS or BRC, cleaning agents should not be present on the production floor during the production process, and easy access to them must be eliminated. A solution to this issue can be the use of secure, stainless steel, lockable hangers for canisters of chemicals.
